What is CICosts?​

CICosts is a cost intelligence platform for GitHub Actions. It tracks your workflow runs in real-time, calculates costs, and helps you optimize spending.

How does CICosts work?​

  1. You install our GitHub App on your organizations
  2. We receive webhooks when workflows run
  3. We calculate costs based on GitHub's published rates
  4. You see costs in your dashboard

Is CICosts free?​

Yes! We offer a generous free tier:

  • Up to 3 repositories
  • 30 days of history
  • Email alerts
  • 1 user

How accurate are the cost calculations?​

Very accurate. We use:

  • Official GitHub Actions pricing rates
  • Actual billable minutes from your runs
  • Correct runner type detection (including ARM and larger runners)

Note: We show "gross" costs before free minutes are applied.

Privacy & Security​

What data does CICosts access?​

Only workflow metadata:

  • Run times and durations
  • Job names and runner labels
  • Repository names

What data does CICosts NOT access?​

We never access:

  • Your source code
  • Repository contents
  • Secrets or environment variables
  • Commit diffs

Where is my data stored?​

  • Hosted on secure cloud infrastructure (AWS + Supabase)
  • Data encrypted at rest and in transit
  • Regular security audits

Can I delete my data?​

Yes. Go to Settings → Account and click "Delete Account". This removes all your data permanently.

Can I change plans?​

Yes, upgrade or downgrade anytime in Settings → Billing.

How do I upgrade?​

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click "Upgrade"
  3. Select your plan (Pro or Team)
  4. Complete checkout via Stripe

What payment methods do you accept?​

We accept all major credit cards via Stripe.

Technical​

Does CICosts work with self-hosted runners?​

Self-hosted runners appear in your data but show $0 cost (since they don't have GitHub billing).

Does CICosts track private repositories?​

Yes, when you grant access during GitHub App installation.

What about GitHub Enterprise?​

Yes, CICosts works with:

  • GitHub.com (including Enterprise Cloud)
  • GitHub Enterprise Server (coming soon)

How often is data updated?​

Cost data updates within 1-2 minutes of workflow completion.

Is there an API?​

Yes! Full API access is available on Pro and Team plans. View API docs

What integrations are available?​

  • Email alerts (all plans)
  • Slack notifications (Pro+)
  • API access (Pro+)

Troubleshooting​

I installed the app but see no data​

  1. Wait 2-5 minutes for the first webhook
  2. Check that repositories are selected in the GitHub App settings
  3. Trigger a workflow run on a tracked repository
  4. Contact support if issues persist

My costs don't match GitHub's bill​

CICosts shows "gross" costs before:

  • Free minutes are deducted
  • Enterprise discounts apply
  • Credits are applied

Your actual bill will be lower if you have free minutes remaining.

Alerts aren't triggering​

  1. Check alert is enabled
  2. Verify threshold is set correctly
  3. Check cooldown period (alerts won't re-trigger during cooldown)
  4. Review notification settings

I can't connect Slack​

  1. Ensure you have Slack workspace admin rights
  2. Check Slack app approval settings in your workspace
  3. Try disconnecting and reconnecting

Account​

How do I change my email?​

Settings → Profile → Update notification email

How do I add team members?​

Upgrade to Team plan, then Settings → Team → Invite Member

How do I delete my account?​

Settings → Account → Delete Account

This removes all your data permanently.
